Think of explaining an IPod to a person born in 1765...

That is what's it's like trying to talk to my dad about anything related to computers. He has a computer at work and one at home, yet somehow when I e-mail him a youtube video clip, he has no clue in the world what to do with it. I once tried to explain to him what an Ipod was but stoped as soon as we got to the concept of MP3s. My dad is in his early 60s but certainly a smart man who is more than capable of figuring out how to use a computer and find media he may like. I don't think it's that the older generation really has a problem with technology, my dad doesn't really seem scared of it, he just really has no interest in getting any more media content at home than he already has. If he knew of all the great ways he could distract himself at work with, he might actually be motivated to figure out how this internet thing works.
All of this comes a day after I helped my mom set up her myspace page. Though she had no idea how to add friends, make a background, or put on a song onto her profile; she sat and watched intently as I did it and when I signed onto my myspace account today she had already done more work on her page. For some reason, the concept of being able to reach people is something she is very interested in while my dad mostly uses the internet to read political articles and forward the occasion funny picture of cat to me, that my uncle e-mail to him. It would seem as if my mom were a very social person in the real world, but that is not the case at all, she meets all of the men she dates through match.com and hardly ever leaves the house unless she's meeting one of these dates. I have no clue why online socialiation is so much more appealing to her than real life socialization but that's all she seems to do. Oh parents.

we so cheesy

Oh yes, me and the roommates had a "chessy" party this weekend. This party was invented as a way for me and my roommate Ashley to procrastinate and ended up taking on such a life of its own that there was no choice but the carry out this plan. The party was centered on chessy music, mainly Lionel Richie's "All night long" but it did also include some great boy band hits from the mid- 90s and techno dance hits. There were also cheesy drinks, featuring Tab, juice boxes, and good ol' Sunny D. Of course, we had to dress chessy, with side ponytails, leggings, and bright colors. Finally, the night wouldn't be complete without some cheesy games. As if games at a college party weren't chessy enought, we had to bring out the jenga and hungry hungry hippos just to make everything extra cheesy. All in all a pretty good theme for a party. Up next..... the I'm a Barbie Girl Party

Gotta Love Valentine's Day...

NOT. I have not talked to one person who likes this Holiday. If you're single, its just a reminder that you're single, which isn't even a bad thing! But, for some reason people think it's a negative quality on this one random day of the year. If you do have someone, chances are they're gonna mess it up and not live up to your grand expectations of what a Valentine should do for you. On top of all that we have to deal with the commericals. Bleh!! Image after image of happy couples. Couples at the park, at the mall, in a car, kissing in a field, couples everywhere. There is just no need for that. It is not representative of real life and just makes the expectations of Valentine's day that much unrealistic. As today is NOT Valentine's day, it is the perfect day to tell all those I care about how much I love them. So, to all my friends and family... I LOVE YOU GUYS you rock my world, and I'll tell you that every single day, except Valentine's day.

Midterm!

Yea i have a midterm today at 2, which means I am stressed! Its my first one of the semester and I am not looking forward to taking it at all. But the one good thing about taking midterms is that I come up with new and exciting ways to distract myself from studying. So far I've planned a party, found about 7 random videos on youtube, made plans for this weekend, made up a dance, changed all the ringtones on my phone, and organized the pictures on my computer. Now it's time to actually buckle down a study :(

Work

I'm at work right now, and by work I mean sitting at a desk for 8 hours taking over someone else's job but not getting paid for it. Oh how I love being an intern. At least I get to sit down and don't have to be on my feet all day like I did in retail, though they did actually give me money for that work. Bleh I'm bored and have a midterm tomorrow and don't want to study for it. College rocks!

Best Friends for Life!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Yup that's us! Aren't we cute? This is my best friend Rochelle, we met about 2 years ago while suffering through work at Nordstrom. Happily neither one of us works there anymore but we still e-mail everyday and see each other at least twice a month, making the hour drive each way just to hang out. We always joke that we're so glad we didn't meet in high school cause we would never have given each other a chance, I was the honor student shy girl who always did what she was told, and she was....well not so much of that. Its funny how if I would have met her in any other context besides Nordstrom we would not have been so close now; but, since we were flug together in an enviornment that put like people together, we assumed we were more similar than we really were. Once we did get to know each other we realized that we did share many interests and in many ways she is the type of person I always wanted to be but was too chicken. At the time we met I really needed to have someone like her--spontaneous, laid back, pushy, and straight to the point-- in my life. When she was upset over something I did, she called me on it, instead of talking to someone else about it behind my back. I have learned so much about who I am through her and am so happy that I got the oppurtunity to get so close to this wonderful girl! <33333

I have found the perfect man

His name is Marc Jacobs. For those of you who don't know who the love of my life, Marc, is he's a fashion disigner who not only disigns for hi own lable, Marc Jacobs, but also does lower end line, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and heads up the giant Louis Vuttion lable. Each of these three lines does a full range of clothes, bags, shoes, and accessories and Marc does them all in fresh and new way. For his Fall 07 Marc Jacobs collection it was all about color, which he mixed expertly. You would be hard pressed to find another person who would boldly mix orange, blue, and yellow all in the same outfit yet manage to pull it off and make it look grown up and chic, but Marc pulled it off. His collection for Louis Vuttion was exqually as impressive as it drew inspiration from ballarinas, keeping the dreeses soft and very feminen as though they were walking straight out of Midsummers Night Dream. How he managed to do two collections that showcased completly different looks but did them so well is a mystery to me, but the man knows fashion and always hits the mark (pun inteended) changing up his looks from season to season but also keeping it classy, fun, and flirty which is what fashion should be.

Spring

Its the middle of winter which of course means...time to get clothes for spring! My one pick for this spring:overalls. Now calm construction worker Tim, not those kind of overalls. I'm talkin cute feminine short overalls that take you back to those care free days of playing in the sandbox all summer long. But, we're not seven years old anymore so ditch the pigtails and instead keep hair and make up done and grown up. Grab a sexy tube top to wear underneath, show off those shoulders and slip into a nice pair of pretty flirty flip-flops to complete the look. Just make sure to keep this look for running around to Starbucks and around town during the day and opt for something a little more done up for night and you'll be sure to stay crazy cute this spring.
